If you have a business that offers such devices as laptops, PCs, mobile phones, or tablets, you should offer tech support as an incentive to customers. Tech support has traditionally been offered by customers bringing their device to an authorized dealership, through the phone, or via email, but more and more people are now offering it through remote desktop software. So, how do you use the software to offer tech support?
The right place to get the software is from an online vendor. This will allow you to compare much more choices, you’ll get low prices, and you get to shop conveniently and anonymously. Some vendors ship the software while others facilitate its downloading.
Once you have gotten the software, install it on your computer. Note that the installation process is just like that of other software programs. If you do not know how to go about this, the vendor will be more than willing to offer assistance.
The next step is installing the remote desktop software on the remote computer you intend to control. Note that the computer has to be in your network. This could be a wired network or a wireless network such as the Internet. You could send your clients the link to the software or send it as an attachment for downloading and installation.
Once both computers have the software installed, take care of such issues as creating passwords and making other settings. Insist on a strong password so that your client’s data does not fall into the wrong hands.
To offer tech support through the remote desktop software, ensure that the two machines are connected to the same network (such as the Internet). The client has to authorize you to access his/her computer. The software allows you to gain full control of the device. You will have access to all the programs and data on the computer. One aspect of tech support is installing new software. The software allows you to troubleshoot using diagnostic tools, to upgrade software, and to do anything else that you would be able to do on your own computer. You could also run malware removal programs.
You could also take control of the display (monitor) and the input devices (such as keyboard and mice). This allows you to perform tasks without interference and without the owner of the computer you are controlling knowing what you are doing. It is often necessary to restart the system once you are done. When you do this, note that you will have to reestablish the connection before you can progress.
